Given the
wide variety of options available in the market, it has become a lot difficult
to choose the best sunglasses and sometimes it is more difficult to choose best
glasses online. Surely, the first preference we
tend to make is how cool does it appear on the face. But there is a lot more
than just an appealing look. There are a lot of factors to take into account.
Those
wrinkles at corner of the eyes are a result of spending too much time in the
sun. Protecting the eye’s sclera from UV light is also important. And we know a
pair of shades can do it all.
Here are
some rules you must follow before picking up a pair:
● UV
protection
The sun emits UV radiation that we cannot see and even feel.
It is even rich with Vitamin D, but too much of it can cause problems like skin
cancer and sunburn. It can damage your eyes as well.
Before picking up the shades, make sure you read the label.
Glasses must block UVA and UVB rays. Many doctors are of the view that glasses
must block both of these from 99 to 100%.
Cataracts can be caused by excessive UV light. It can damage
the retina impairing your vision largely. It can even cause changes in the cell
resulting into skin cancer. So think twice before choosing your sunglasses.
● Fit
Appearance is not all. We want something that fits perfectly
so that it remains comfortable whenever wearing them. But comfort is secondary
when it comes to the fitness of a pair. A pair that doesn’t fit well on your
face can let UV rays discharge into the skin and the eyes. Make sure the
glasses wrap around perfectly to block UV light.
● Darkness
and color
A black lens doesn’t mean that it has the ability to block
UV rays. So it is important to read the label again.
The pupil controls how much light gets in the eye. While
wearing darkened lenses, the pupil opens up to let more light in. If the
sunglasses are not designed to block UV rays, then you might let more into the
back of your eye.
● Polarized
lenses
Polarized lenses decreases glare in the snow, at the beach
or on the water. However, the do not take place of UV protection. It might
enable you to see well when there is much light around but it makes it
difficult to perceive things like smartphones, computer screens and dashboards.
● Lens
It totally depends on your preference which lenses you are
going to choose. You might go for plastic or shatterproof glass. But how well
they enable to see counts a lot. Some lenses can cause distortion, especially
the curved ones but this is not always the case.
● Price
and brand
We have a general misconception that all expensive and
branded sunglasses are the right choice. It surely depends on where you are
purchasing the sunglasses from but that doesn’t mean blindly relying on the
brand and price tag. Higher price tag doesn’t always mean that image quality
will be exceptional. However, you are more likely to have something of less
quality if you are purchasing it from a street hawker.
● Appearance
In the end, appearance counts a lot. Most of use purchase
sunglasses by looking at the appearance. Each pair of sunglasses may look
different on a flat face and a round face. This is why it is important to
choose accordingly. A good quality sunglass may protect your eyes perfectly but
it may not suit your face. So choose the pair that compliments your face cut,
shape and size.
